Warkworth Castle was built in the 12th century then rebuilt,
and the gatehouse was added in the 13th century. The three storey
keep was built during the late 14th century. It includes a great
hall, chapel, kitchens, store rooms and various chambers. Although
now in ruin it is open to the public (charges apply). The Castle
is located in Warkworth village centre, rising steeply above
the River Coquet. There is a car park. Tel: 01665 711423. About

Warkworth Harbour at Amble
still serves as a fishing port and leisure port based around
moorings in the river and at the marina. Vehicular access to
the port is restricted by being taken through the residential
areas which border the harbour area. On the outskirts of Amble.
During the summer there are regular boat trips from Amble harbour
to the RSPB bird sanctuary at Coquet Island. Coquet Island is
a small island close to the Northumberland coast. In 1841 lighthouse
