Bedford Castle is located
in the town centre, off High Street. The earliest castle was
built soon after the Norman Conquest of 1066. Damaged motte is
all that remains. In the 19th century, the northern part of the
motte was used as an icehouse. A major facelift for Bedford Castle
Mound was completed in May 2004. Location: In the centre of Bedford.

Kimbolton Castle, Kimbolton,
Huntingdon, PE28 0EA. Tel: 01480 860 505. Kimbolton Castle is
best known as the final home (or prison) of King Henry VIII's
first queen, Catherine of Aragon. Although the Castle now belongs
to Kimbolton School, visitors can still see the impressive range
of State Rooms, with an outstanding set of murals by Pellegrini.
We regret that access to the State Rooms is difficult for visitors
with limited mobility and that there is no wheelchair access.
