The museum is housed in a 16th century tithe barn and a moated manor house, parts of which date back to the 14th century. The museum displays include a range of rooms from Victorian times to the 1930s, Whitefriars Glass, Stanmore Railway and agricultural machinery. About 7 miles west of Billericay.

Horse riding is allowed, but you must keep to the areas marked with a blue arrow. The most important habitat in Thorndon Country Park is the ancient deer park area dating back to the 15th century which has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. About 3 miles west of Billericay.
