Blyth attractions Ashington is proud of its locally produced world class footballers, including Jack and Sir Bobby Charlton. A fine statue pays fitting tribute to another football hero Jackie Milburn, uncle of Jack and Bobby, and who played football for Newcastle United between the years of 1943-1957. It is located in the main pedestrian shopping area of the town (photo right). About 7 miles north of Blyth.
