The Forest of Dean is an ancient forest covering over 110 square
kilometres of woodland, to the west of Gloucestershire, between
Wales and Herefordshire. The Forest of Dean offers stunning landscapes
and spectacular scenery, to its visitors, many of whom return
year after year. The Forest of Dean offers many activities including
walking, archery, cycling, caving, falconry, abseiling, deer
watching, golfing, quad biking, riding, rock climbing, off road
driving, or kayaking. You can visit working collieries, steam
railways, craft shops, iron age caves, formal gardens and Museums,
as well as the many beautiful towns and villages in and around
the forest.

Hopewell Colliery Museum, Cannop Hill, Coleford (on the B4226).
Tel: 01594 810706. Hopewell Colliery is a real mine - If you
are going underground you should wear practical shoes and warm
clothing and you will be fitted with a miner's safety helmet
and lamp for your trip undergound. The mine has a daily safety
inspection. About 3 miles west of Cinderford.
