Corwen.
Llangollen Wharf - Canal
Boat Trips in North Wales. Tel: 01978 860702. Llangollen Wharf
is one of the major attractions in the North Wales market town
of Llangollen. From the Wharf you can embark on either a horse
drawn boat trip along the feeder for the main canal, or a motorised
aqueduct cruise which takes you across the famous Pontcysyllte
Aqueduct built by Thomas Telford. Both these trips take in the
magical sights and sounds of the beautiful Llangollen Canal.

a section of the former Ruabon to Barmouth route in North Wales
that was closed in the 1960s. Our heritage trains now operate
at weekends for most of the year, and all week from April to
October. During the summer, most trains are steam-hauled; at

Valle Crucis Abbey, Llangollen
- Tel: 01978 860326.The evocative ruins of Valle Crucis lie in
green fields beneath Llangollen's steep sided mountains. The
abbey was founded in a remote location particularly suitable
for the Cistercian order. Their Abbey, founded in the 13th century
and added to a century later, has fared better than many of its
contemporaries against the ravages of time, history and neglect.
Many original features remain, including the glorious west front
complete with an elaborate, richly carved doorway and beautiful
rose window. About 9 miles east of Corwen.
Plas Newydd, Hill Street, Llangollen, Denbighshire LL20 8AW -
Tel: 01978 8611314. Home to the celebrated " Ladies of Llangollen"
from 1780 to 1829. A charming house with carved-oak panels, intricate
stained glass windows and tranquil gardens. About 9 miles east
of Corwen.
