Doune Castle, near Dunblane. Tel 01786 841742. Doune Castle is
an imposing Medieval castle built at the end of the 14th Century
for Robert Stewart, the first Duke of Albany. Its most striking
feature is the 100ft high gatehouse which includes the splendid
Lord's Hall with its musicians' gallery, double fireplace and
carved oak screen. The Castle was most famously used as the setting
for Monty Pythons Holy Grail. About 3 miles west of Dunblane.
Dunblane Cathedral, The
Cross, Dunblane, Perthshire FK15 0AQ. Dunblane Cathedral, built
on a Christian site first established by Saint Blane around the
year 600, is one of the few surviving medieval churches in Scotland.
Location: In the centre of Dunblane.
