Kelmscott Manor, Kelmscott,

a grade 1 Listed Tudor farmhouse adjacent to the River Thames,
was built in 1570. William Morris chose it as his summer home
as he thought it looked to him as if it had "grown up out
of the soil". About 3 miles north of Faringdon.
The internationally known Uffington White Horse can been seen
for miles away. The figure has remained clear of turf throughout
its long existence, except for being covered as a precaution,
during the Second World War. Also an Iron Age hill fort named
