Kingston-upon-Hull and Beverley

Beverley. Beverley is located on the A 1035. A nearby large town is Kingston upon Hull, about 10 miles away, and Beverley is 9 miles east of Market Weighton. It was once the capital of the East Riding of Yorkshire. The main landmark of the town is Beverley Minster whilst Beverley Racecourse has over three hundred years of history. Brigg

Brigg. Brigg is located on the A18, about 30 miles from Kingston upon Hull. It is near the M180 taking traffic to the M18 (west) and to Grimsby in the east. Brigg has been a thriving market town for centuries, serving the largely rural villages on both sides of the river with a corn exchange. Goole and Gilberdyke

Goole. Goole has good motorway, road, and rail links. It is located about 5 miles east of Junction 7 of the M18 motorway, which connects to the M1 at Rotherham and the M62 at Goole. Goole is about 35 miles from Rotherham, about 30 miles west of Hull and 12 miles from Scunthorpe. Goole is a small but busy working port on the river Ouse. The town is seen locally in two parts - Old Goole with the Dutch River bridge rebuilt in the 1890's and New Goole on the other side of the river by the port. Hull

Hull. Hull, or "Kingston-upon-Hull", has a maritime history that dates back to 1299 and became England's leading harbour. Hull is located on the north bank of the Humber, about 12 miles east of Junction 38 of the M 62 motorway. It is 20 miles east of Goole and 4 miles south of Beverley. Hull Museums and Art Gallery, housed in what was formerly the Town Docks offices, is an impressive building with a fine collection of paintings, artifacts and models. Market Weighton

Market Weighton. Market Weighton is situated in the midst of the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds countryside. It is located on the A1079, 9 miles west of Beverley, 14 miles north of Goole, 18 miles east of York and 14 miles west of Hull. It is only 7 miles north of junction 38 of the M62. Grimsby

Grimsby. Grimsby is located on the Humber Estuary on the north-east coast, about 30 miles from Hull. It can be easily reached by road, rail, air or sea and is the main town in North East Lincolnshire. Grimsby was the world's largest fishing port in the 19th century. Today, the port is a major centre of food processing, specialising in the import of Danish and Norwegian products. Much of the town has been rebuilt with pedestrian malls and good facilities. Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe. Scunthorpe is located on the A18, and also the M180 taking traffic to the M18 (west) and to Grimsby (east). Scunthorpe is about 30 miles from Kingston upon Hull. The town was originally five rural villages and appears in the Domesday Book as Escumetorp. Ironstone was mined in the area as early as the Roman occupation, but the deposits lay forgotten until the 19th century.
