To the west of this region lies Shropshire on the rolling hills between Birmingham and the Welsh border, with its capital Shrewsbury, the finest Tudor town in Britain.
 
To the north is Staffordshire, the famous Potteries district, and Nottinghamshire with Sherwood Forest, once home of the legendary Robin Hood.
 
In the centre is Leicestershire with several interesting towns and historic sites, and to the south, Nottinghamshire and Bedfordshire, peaceful and largely agricultural counties.
 
For the purposes of this site, the central England area extends to the counties north of London
