On the outskirts of Newton Stewart.

Stephenson it is regarded as one of the finest private collections
of gemstones, crystals, minerals, rocks and fossils in Great
Britain. www.gemrock.net. About 6 miles south of Newton Stewart.
St Ninian's Chapel, Isle of Whithorn. Ninian, Scotland's first
missionary and saint, founded his church at Whithorn - well over
a century before the much celebrated St Columba. The chapel behind
the harbour frontage street in the Isle of Whithorn now stands
as a restored 14th century reception chapel, although excavation
revealed traces of an earlier, 12th century chapel. It was used
by sea-borne pilgrims visiting the shrine of St. Ninian and is
now in the care of Historic Scotland. About 15 miles south of
Newton Stewart.
Glenluce Abbey, Newton
Stewart Tel: 01581 300541. Glenluce is a Cistercian abbey founded
around 1192 by Roland, Lord of Galloway. The remains, including
a handsome early-16th century chapter house, are set in a lovely
tranquil valley overlooking Luce Bay. The property is managed
by Historic Scotland. About 13 miles west of Newton Stewart.
