Gardens is an independent museum, established in 1975 to care
for one of the country's most important monastic sites, which
encompasses in its 38 acres museum galleries, the ruins of a
medieval priory and a formal Walled Garden. One of the largest

Gardens are open every day from 12 noon and are well signposted

ANDERTON BOAT LIFT, Lift
Lane, Anderton, Northwich CW9 6FW- Tel: 01606 786777. The Anderton
Boat Lift is one of the greatest monuments to Britain's last
canal age and known as the "Cathedral of the Canals".
Built in 1875 it was the world's first and is currently the UK's
only Boat Lift. Boat owners and visitors alike are able to ride
the Lift and a new Operations Centre houses education and visitor
facilities - creating one of the region's most important visitor
attractions. About 9 miles southeast of Runcorn.
