The Isle of Lewis
is actually joined to the Isle of Harris, and has a short border. The Isle of Lewis in theWestern Isles is a fairly
flat island with spectacular sandy beaches and a rugged coastline.
Many visitors come to see the ancient Calanais (Callanish) standing
stones, but the area is good for fishing, cycling, walking and
bird watching, with the possibility of seeing otters, seals,
eagles or dolphins. With a population of 8000, Stornoway is the
capital of the Western Isles, the airport and ferry terminal
here provide links to the mainland. Book : North Minch and Isle of Lewis |
