PortTalbot. Port Talbot is an industrial town which grew out
of the original small port and market town of Aberavon. It is
about 1 mile west of Junction 41 of the M4, 10 miles south of
Swansea and 25 miles west of Cardiff. It built its wealth on
the quantities of coal in the area and on the abundant water
available in the River Afan to power machinery and operate the
docks. It has a largely modern town centre and an impressive
modern deep-water harbour with a mile-long breakwater. Book : Vale of Glamorgan, Rhondda
and Porthcawl. |

at the narrow mouth of the River Tawe. It is about 4 miles south
of Junction 45 of the M4, 8 miles northwest of Port Talbot and
10 miles east of Llanelli. It is a colourful maritime city with
the pretty Victorian resort of Mumbles and the spectacular Gower
Peninsula, on the edge of a 5-mile sandy bay. It offers beautiful
parks and gardens, enviable cultural and sporting facilities
as well as excellent shopping opportunities. Swansea: |
