Whitby Abbey, Whitby Tel: 01947 603568. From high on its commanding
cliff top, Whitby Abbey overlooks the picturesque fishing town
of Whiby. The haunting ruins are now maintained by English Heritage,
and were once the inspiration for Bram Stoker's "Dracula".

The Cleveland Way is a
110 mile National Trail between Helmsley and Filey via Osmotherley,
Saltburn, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Ravenscar and Scarborough,
around the North York Moors National Parks. It passes right through

Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary, Scalby Mills, Scarborough,
North Yorkshire YO12 6RP Tel: 01723 376125. The centre houses
thousands of fascinating creatures as well a busy, and highly
successful marine sanctuary for orphaned, sickly and injured
seal pups. The magnificent ocean tank has been spectacularly
transformed to become Turtle Reef, with its own colourful Caribbean-style
coral reef and hundreds of dazzling reef fish sharing quarters

Scarborough Castle, North
Yorkshire YO11 1HY Tel: 01723 372 451. Scarborough Castle defends
a prominent headland between two bays, with sheer drops to the
sea and only a narrow landward approach. Specially constructed
viewing platforms now offer wonderful views of the coastline.
The site's 3,000-year history is explored in new interactive
displays in the restored Master Gunner's House. Less mobile visitors
can enjoy a ground-floor touch-screen virtual tour of the displays.
