ANDERTON BOAT LIFT, Lift

Boat Lift is one of the greatest monuments to Britain's last
canal age and known as the "Cathedral of the Canals".
Built in 1875 it was the world's first and is currently the UK's
only Boat Lift. Boat owners and visitors alike are able to ride
the Lift and a new Operations Centre houses education and visitor
facilities - creating one of the region's most important visitor
attractions. About 6 miles north of Runcorn.

2,000 years and it is the only place in Britain where it is still
produced on a large scale. There has been a Salt Museum in Northwich
for over 100 years.The original museum was established by Thomas
Ward and John Brunner, two local salt proprietors who felt that
Northwich needed something to explain its importance as the salt

Tabley is the only 18th century Palladian country house in Cheshire.
It has a 9-bay central block facing south, flanked by pavilions
and quadrant passages set well back and splendid Doric portico
reached by curved stairs. Tabley House is home to a number of
important paintings collected by the Leicester family, principally
